Private beta · Now teaching AP Biology

The teacher that
learns how you learn.

Not a chatbot you have to prompt. TruLearn arrives with a lesson plan, teaches out loud, draws while it explains, and asks you to say it back.

Free during the beta. Limited places. See how a session works.

Built before you speak, from what you got wrong last time and how long until your deadline.

    You explain it back

Say it in your own words. That is the assessment, graded against a rubric a person wrote.

    It remembers the gap

The one idea you had backwards comes back on Thursday, shaped to catch exactly that.

Built for two kinds of learner

The part most tools skip

Most study tools ask you to recognise the right answer. TruLearn asks you to say it.

“Oxygen pulls the shared electrons closer, so that end goes slightly negative and the hydrogens go slightly positive.”

A teach-back, graded criterion by criterion against a rubric a person wrote.

Why it teaches this way

Built on what is known about learning

It makes you explain it back

Students who explain material to themselves while studying learn substantially more than students who read it twice, because explaining forces the gaps into the open where they can be fixed.

Chi et al., self-explanation and learning, Cognitive Science (1994)

It asks before it tells

So a session opens by asking, review questions come back as questions, and the tutor waits rather than rescuing.

Roediger and Karpicke, the testing effect, Psychological Science (2006)

It brings things back later, on purpose

What a student missed returns on a schedule rather than when they happen to think of it, in a question shaped to catch that specific gap.

What TruLearn does not do yet

  • One course. AP Biology is fully authored, with a college introductory biology version of the same library; other subjects are being written.
  • No parent dashboard. Coverage maps, streaks and per-session digests are planned and not built.
  • No transcripts or grades you can submit anywhere. What exists is evidence of what has been explained back correctly.

The things people ask first

What is TruLearn?
TruLearn is a proactive, voice-first AI teacher. Rather than waiting for a question, it arrives with a lesson plan, teaches out loud against a shared whiteboard, asks the student to explain the idea back in their own words, grades that against a rubric written by a person, and remembers what they missed for next time.
How is TruLearn different from ChatGPT or a normal AI tutor?
A chatbot is reactive: it answers what you ask. TruLearn decides what to teach before the student speaks, based on what they got wrong last session, what is due for review, and how long until their exam. The planning, grading and turn-taking are ordinary tested code rather than prompt instructions, so the tutor cannot talk its way around a rule and mastery is not scored against a moving target.
Which courses does TruLearn teach?
AP Biology is the course that is fully authored, along with a college introductory biology version of the same concept library pitched at a different depth. More subjects are being authored. Authoring is deliberately slow because each idea needs a rubric and a set of known misconceptions reviewed by a person, and that is what makes a mastery score mean anything.
